The Robert and Evelyn Cabaniss Music Scholarship was established in 2026 in loving memory of Mark’s parents, whose encouragement, sacrifice, faith, and unwavering support helped nurture his lifelong love of music and education. The scholarship was permanently endowed by Garry Cabaniss, Mark Cabaniss, and Michele (Cabaniss) Peraldo.
Though neither pursued music professionally, Robert and Evelyn Cabaniss deeply valued the arts and believed strongly in the importance of education, hard work, and using one’s gifts to serve others. Their steady encouragement provided the foundation upon which Mark’s musical and professional journey was built.
Established at Gardner-Webb University in Cleveland County, NC where Robert and Evelyn spent most of their lives, the scholarship assists deserving music students as they pursue their own educational and artistic goals. It reflects the belief that music education not only develops artistic excellence, but also builds discipline, character, leadership, and lifelong community.
Through this scholarship, the legacy of Robert and Evelyn Cabaniss continues to encourage and support future generations of young musicians as they prepare to make their own meaningful contributions through music.
