The Hoagy Carmichael Musical
By Alan Bailey and Mark Cabaniss
The Stardust Supper Club is the funny and deeply felt story of two of Great American Songwriter Hoagy Carmichael’s closest friends, now a longtime married couple who run a small nightclub (located in an Indiana town), as they find themselves examining their own lives in contrast to Hoagy’s huge success.
On the night of the 1952 Academy Awards radio broadcast, Hoagy’s friends put on their biggest show in years – only to watch it fall apart in ways both hilarious and heartbreaking as the tensions and jealousies of a lifetime play out onstage.
In the vein of Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Forever Plaid, The Stardust Supper Club features some of the biggest hits of this quintessentially American composer, including “Georgia on My Mind,” “In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening”, “Skylark,” “Two Sleepy People,” and the immortal “Stardust.”
“A warm, tender, and winning musical!”
